Lynn Doughty, Senior Counsel

Lynn brings more than 12 years of development experience to our company with expertise in strategic planning, campaign management, leadership and major gifts solicitation, proposal writing, annual fund development, board facilitation and training.

Lynn joined Gary Friedmann & Associates in 2005 and has since provided a wide variety of client services to Maine organizations including:  managing capital campaigns, analyzing and reorganizing development programs, conducting feasibility/planning studies, leading fundraising workshops, facilitating board retreats, and training volunteer solicitors.  She has provided advice on such broad matters as the use of information technologies in fundraising, constituency development, prospect management, naming gift strategies, donor stewardship, and event planning and production.

Prior to her consulting work, Lynn served for five years as part of the development team at the University of California, San Francisco, which culminated in a position as the Campaign Operations Manager for a $1 billion campaign.  She served as the first Director of Major Gifts at TechnoServe, an international development organization in Connecticut and as the first Director of Development at the Westchester Land Trust in New York.  In her positions in Connecticut and New York, she established annual giving, major giving, corporate giving, and planned giving programs and helped each organization secure the largest gifts they had ever raised from private sources. 

Lynn was a Fulbright Scholar and a cum laude graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a degree in communications.  She also holds a Master’s in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
